Inter-Regional Wildlife Competition

In its 6th year this Wildlife only competition (following the definition of Wildlife as per FIAP rules) is between the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) and the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF). While this is a competition between the respective Nature Groups, the entry will be an individual one, with no selection process. This year the competition results and feedback will be hosted by NIPA on Saturday 17th  February 2024. Venue and time to be confirmed.

In Summary:

  1. This is an annual competition hosted by alternative organisations.

  2. It is for Projected Digital Images only.

  3. Closing date for entries will be Sunday 21st January 2024.

  4. The NIPA entry will be emailed to northvsouthnature@gmail.com

  5. There is no entry fee.

  6. Entries will be restricted to Wildlife only as per the FIAP rules.

  7. Entries will be limited to 4 PDIs per person.

  8. They should be jpg format, not exceeding 1600px by 1200px and be in the sRGB colour space.

  9. Images entered in a previous Inter-Regional Competition are not eligible.

  10. The format of file names is important for administrative reasons and so that we can identify the author and federation etc i.e.
           "Factual Image Title_Federation_Your Name_Your Club".

  11. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 images and certificates will be presented to all placed images.

  12. Where the top images score the same mark, the judges will be asked to pick their 1st, 2nd and 3rd and placed images.

  13. The overall honours will go to the organisation with the highest score after summing the scores of the top 30 images from each organisation.

  14. No trophy will be awarded for the top organisation, just the honour of winning.

  7. The format of file names is not important so long as we can identify the author e.g "ImageTitle_YourName_Your Club"

  8. 3 prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with certificates for other placed images, 2 highly commended and 3 commended.

  9. Where the top images score the same mark, the judge will be asked to pick their 1st, 2nd and 3rd and placed images.

  10. The overall honours will go to the organisation with the highest score after summing the scores of the top 30 images from each organisation.

  11. No trophy will be awarded for the top organisation, just the honour of winning.

This year's Inter-Regional Wildlife Competition, the 6th running of this perpetual competition was hosted by the NIPA.

 

We had a fantastic entry from both the IPF Nature Group and NIPA, with a total of 315 images.

 

These were independently judged by Mark Sedgwick FIPF, ESFIAP, EFIAP/b and Ross McKelvey MFIAP MPAGB FBPE FIPF

On Saturday 17th Feb results and feedback were given at the Presbyterian Church in Hillsborough, great day enjoyed by all.

​

Both judges provided excellent feedback on all of  the images, many thanks, Mark and Ross.

​

Congratulations to everyone who entered and to those who had placed images.

​

Congratulations to the IPF Nature Group who just pipped us again by 34 points to take the overall honour of the top Federation.

​

While NIPA may have lost out on the overall honours, we did take to honours with the top image.
