An attractive, I suspect on native bird, lit by the contre-jour lighting. That really is highlighting the out stretched tail feathers and giving him some glorious rim lighting around the head. Perfect dark dappled background compliments the bird. Sue Sibley
Without the backlighting this image would not have the same stand out quality.
That pinch of backlight allows you to see the almost transparent detail in the wings and highlights the smallest of feathers on the birds chest and neck to the top of its beak.
The muted background gives depth to the image with no distractions to take the viewer away from the focal point and detail in the bird and flower. - Matthew
